About Project
From the tailoring and the stitching, the next step was to teach women about the beauty business. This again came about through feedback from the community, articulated by CEDC Supervisor Kanti Srivastava. When she was exploring disciplines that could meet contemporary needs and represent possibility for women to earn money she identified that – in a place like Delhi the beauty industry is huge – and so, there is a need for parlours. From top level parlours, bridal makeup, visual media, dressing well etc. beauty parlours create employment, and women can also operate a business by going to people’s houses. As such a Beauty Skills Course is now run during the summer months in the CEDC.
This has been introduced since August 2014, on the demand of the community as a vocational training scheme.
